The Museum Explorer Passport is launching on the 28th of May!

Friday 20 May 2016

Child holding Museum Explorer PassportThis summer, take a family journey through the rich and exciting history of Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Essex with a free Museum Explorer Passport. Collect yours from a participating local museum and begin your expedition through time, taking in the Roman invasion, the magic of steam railways and the rapid rise of the industrial age. Museums throughout the three counties are running holiday events, activities and trails for families. Go along and get your passport stamped at each museum you visit and take part in our challenges. Your child will get a stamp for each challenge they complete and they will receive a special sticker for completing their challenges.

The passport has been created in partnership with museums across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Essex with the aim of encouraging families to visit museums. It aims to show families how many great museums there are on their doorstep, providing a range of fantastic, affordable activities during the holidays.

39 museums from the 3 counties are participating including 12 from Hertfordshire:

  • The British Schools Museum in Hitchin
  • Knebworth House
  • Much Hadham Forge Museum
  • The Natural History Museum at Tring
  • Royston and District Museum & Art Gallery
  • Stevenage Museum
  • Watford Museum
  • Verulamium Museum in St Albans
  • Mill Green Museum & Mill in Hatfield
  • Welwyn Roman Baths
  • Ware Museum
  • Lowewood Museum

You can pick up a passport anytime from the end of May and the explorer scheme will run throughout the summer.
