This half term Herts Heritage Roadshow is coming to Royston! Join us in Royston library on Friday 3rd June for a day of free talks and activities which will explore local and family history.
This event has been created by Hertfordshire Archives & Local Studies (HALS), working in partnership with Royston Museum, Hertfordshire Association of Museums and Royston Library with the aim of raising awareness of both local heritage and what the county archives and local studies library have to offer to people living in and around Royston.
On the day you will find a family history expert from HALS offering free family history advice surgeries and demonstrating ancestry.com and findmypast.co.uk both of which can be accessed free of charge in Hertfordshire Libraries.
In the Information Centre in the Library, you will find displays and stalls from HALS, Royston Museum and the local history society. There will be mystery objects to identify and dressing up in historic costume for the little ones. Don’t miss our goody bag, brimming with ideas and information about the history of local area and how to get involved.
Throughout the day, there will be short talks about various aspects of local history and research resources for local people. These will include a special talk on the mysterious Royston Cave! No booking is required and all talks will run both morning and afternoon. There is something for everyone, so do come along and bring your friends!
