HAM Membership 2023-2024
The HAM subscription structure recognises that not all museums are the same in terms of size, facilities and income, and our aim is to make the fees as transparent and fair as possible.
There are now five membership categories: Full, Associate, Corporate, Individual and Concession. Whether you are a Hertfordshire heritage organisation, a freelancer, volunteer, student or a commercial organisation you can join HAM and enjoy access to and support through our resources and training.
Membership Categories and Cost
The costs of the different membership categories are set out below. The membership year starts on 1April 2023 and ends on 31 March 2024. The fees relate to visitor numbers for the year 2022-2023

Full Membership
Full membership is open to museums and non-commercial galleries in Hertfordshire, or museums in Bedfordshire who have had long-standing ties with HAM.
Associate Member (non-voting)
Associate membership is open to local Hertfordshire-based charitable and not-for-profit organisations with an interest in museums.
Corporate Members (non-voting)
Corporate membership is open to profit-making organisations who would like to show support for Hertfordshire Association of Museums.
Individual Member – (non-voting)
Individual membership is open to any individual with an interest in Hertfordshire Museums (eg consultant and freelancer).
Concession Member – (non-voting)
Concession membership is open to those individuals who are unwaged.
Membership Benefits – Full Member
Advice
- Access to the Museum Development Team’s advice either by phone, email or museum visits, tailored to individual needs.
- Automatic subscription to the newsletter from Museums Development containing updates on local, county, regional and national initiatives, information on upcoming events and training, job vacancies and helpful tips and advice. (Around 25 newsletters and newsflashes a year)
- Access to advice from HALS Conservator (subject to availability).
- Eligibility to HAM small grant scheme. (subscription must be fully paid in order to meet the eligibility criteria)
- Opportunity to develop and contribute to partnership projects
- Voting rights at the AGM under the terms of the constitution.

- Membership of the ‘Herts, Beds & Luton Education Forum’.
- Invitation to the HAM Annual General Meeting.
- Invitations to attend HAM training events

- Invitation to enter HAM Awards and attend the presentation event.

- Your museum will be promoted through HAM. This includes HAM’s website and associated marketing materials.
